I KNOW.

Ugh...I KNOW, chick-a-doodles!

It's been far too long since the last posting [not that a single soul reads this...], and I promise a good update is on its way!

Unfortunately, I have to head to bed -- long and early shift in the morning!

See you soon...I swear!

1 Fish, 2 Fish, Blue Fish, Adieu

Tuesday was great times! I started off by meeting mumsies and daddums downtown for breakfast on Monroe and Wabash. MMM mmmm! Good times! They bought us a potato peeler, as we lacked one, as well as our first Christmas decor for our new place, in the form of a green and red holiday dish towel. TOO CUTE!

After that, they dropped me off at the Shedd Aquarium and left for the Fairview Heights. I had the best time with them this weekend!

I then met up with Julie and Greg and girl [Megan] to spend the afternoon at said aquarium as Tuesdays are free admission -- great times sneaking into shows and whatnot! YO DOG.

I've posted pictures below of the fun things we saw. Enjoy [and forgive, as they were taken with a phone...]:

A Sea Anemonemaneee

Gigantor Turtle

GRAINY Dori -- why didn't this one turn out as big as the others?

GORGEOUS Jellyfish -- NO, I didn't alter the color, this is what it looked like, seriously.

Jacques? No. He was talking with us as he was swarmed with fish, shark and stingray. [he was feeding them. I hope HE wasn't the food, as the later feeder was a totally different man....]

And that's that. I'm off to bed, as I have to work the rest of the week. I'll see you all soon, chickens, and don't be afraid to stop in and say hello!

Holla, Holla, Halloween! [and the weekend after]

So, I'm not really one for the enjoyment of the Halloween Festivities....but I enjoyed this hurr one!

I bought a TON of candy for the neighborkids [the little ones that hang out on the back porch] but then realized that we'd be gone before they went out...so...Chris and I ate most of it, and our pals joined in the fun at the Boystown.

Yes, I spent the rest of the night with the fellas at the North Halsted Halloween Parade! It was either the 10th or 14th year....I can't recall...

I just checked their site...it was the 10th. Apparently going back and fixing the sentence above became too much of a chore for me. GET OVER IT.

ANYway.

The parade was a great time, even though it was sooooooooooo cold. One of the best costumes was actually a group that got together and entered themselves [it's the sort of parade where anyone can be in it, and the best costumes (in little categories) win prizes] as the characters from Little Miss Sunshine. CUTE they were! The man dressed as the father had a huge cardboard VW Bus on and the family had to push him every now and then. CUTE! Then the woman dressed as Olive would stop and scream every few yards. CUTER! Then the character that Steve Carell played was carrying a body wrapped in sheets. CUTEST! 10 points for them! I didn't snap a photo, 'cause they kept moving....I'm sad about it. They really were my favorite part of the parade.

People watching were also dressed up....t'was good times! Post parade, Greg decided that we would head to Caribou to get something warm to drink [which we NEEDED] and on the way I saw the following two:Jerri Blank and Liza Minelli/Sally Bowles! ONLY TWO OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE [Characters] EVER!! They were great and posed for me! [Yes...that's a man as Jerri - Can you believe it?] And can you believe that this was taken with my cell? For some reason it's much better on the web than on the screen of my phone. Hmm. Odd.

At Caribou [which was packed] Chris pointed out that the person who was ringing us was dressed as the Shelly Long character in Troop Beverley Hills. ANOTHER FAVORITE!!! Seriously...LOVED it. I asked if they would pose and they did this cute heel click and salute. Here's the pic:
Man, those men know how to dress! Again, how much do I love my phone's camera?

It was great fun!

This weekend, my parents came to town to see Wicked for the first time. They were here with some family friends and had a blast there. Saturday, Chris and I spent downtown with the four and went to lunch at some place...something Jake something...it was off of Rush and they had great food. I had a Spinach Artichoke Flatbread -- fantastic -- and some beer. The service wasn't really the best, though. It's ok. It was a great time to catch up with everyone. I hadn't seen my parents, afterall, since we moved up here on Aug 6. That's right... Post that, the friends went to the Navy Pier while my parents took the el [also for the first time] to our apartment to finally see it. Chris and I had stayed up until 5A cleaning [and it looks FABULOUS -- and will stay this way] for them, and they loved the place! I'm so glad we kicked our asses into gear! It's so nice that when I wash dishes now, it's only a few at a time and not 30...After that we went back to their hotel, The Palmer House [yeah...I KNOW], met up with the other two [Susie and her beau Terry], had some wine and cheese and looked over the pics my parents brought from their two weeks in Italy [I KNOW....it was their 40th Anniversary, they're so CUTE!]. They pics were great as was the wine and cheeses.

After that we all tried to go to the Frontera Grill [the less expensive/more atmospheric of the two Rick Bayless restaurants] but met up with a 2.5 hour wait. SO. Dad and Terry went out to try to find a place with a shorter wait. They ended up coming back saying that there was a 25 minute wait at this place just a street over called Lalo's. It was SOOO much more fun than that other place. Literally. 3 floors of fun with a Mexican theme. The first floor was the bar and dance area, the second was the seated dining and the last was something that I didn't explore. We got in QUICK and the service was GREAT and there was a roaming Mariachi band, which took requests, and the food was fantabulous! The drinks...oy. Chris and I ordered ourselves [each] a medium Azul Margarita -- yikes. It tasted amazing, was loaded with alcohol, and let's just say I'm still feeling a little tipsy by it....literally more than 24 hours later.

Let's just say....I puked. A bit. AFTER I got home. Yes...AFTER the bumpy train ride from Monroe. I had the spins on the train and I remember looking at Chris every now and then and shaking my head saying it's not going to be a good thing. Then I sat at home, tried to close my eyes [because I was SOOOOO tired from staying up cleaning] and realized I was still amidst the spins. So. I did what I had to do to get more comfortable.

Again, sorry for standing you up, Julie! I'll make it up to you!

It was great times, my mom and dad were a little tipsy too, so it wasn't like it was just me being a drunken fool in front of my parents...I'm a little more classy than THAT. [Well...I thought I was ;-)]

And today I worked. I work again tomorrow, but beforehand my parents are picking me up to go buy some things for the kitchen before taking me in to work-- which is GORGEOUS and ROOMY now that Chris moved the fridge like we originally wanted. My dad, the handiest man I know, told Chris the easiest way to do what we wanted -- and it sure enough worked! You'll all have to come see!

The next day, Tuesday, they head home - but since I have off I'll be joining them for a breakfast. Chris and Julie may come too [:-D] which'll be a blast. Then I hang out with Julie for the rest of the day [another blast]!

And that's all for now! If you made it this far....then yay for you! IF not...well...what's the point of sending you some sort of message! Thanks for sticking through this long ass post!

I'll see you later!
